Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has provided an update on the future of midfielder Andile Jali, whose contract with the club is set to expire in June 2023.
At 32, Jali has become an important part of the Sundowns setup, both on and off the field. He has made 12 appearances in all competitions this season, and is seen as a leader in the dressing room. Mokwena said that the club is keen to keep Jali and are in discussions with him to extend his current contract.
“We are in talks with Andile and we are hoping that we can reach an agreement that will keep him here for a few more years,” Mokwena said. He added that Jali is a valuable asset to the team and that his experience is invaluable.
“He has been here for a long time and he is a great asset to this team. He has a lot of experience and he is a leader in the dressing room. He is a great example for the younger players,” Mokwena said.
With his current contract set to expire in 2023, it remains to be seen whether Jali will remain with Sundowns or move on to a new challenge. Whatever the outcome, Jali’s experience and leadership will be missed if he leaves the club.
