Zwane Laughs Off Loss On Chiefs’ Special Day…

Kaizer Chiefs experienced a disappointing 1-0 loss to Sekhukhune United on the club’s 53rd birthday.

This result was especially disheartening for the Glamour Boys, as they had closed off their season before the FIFA World Cup break with a win over Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby and re-opened with another victory over Golden Arrows.

Head coach Arthur Zwane expressed his disappointment in not being able to give a good present to the club’s chairman Kaizer Motaung Snr and all the “forefathers” of the club.

“I’m disappointed for the fact that it was our birthday, the club’s birthday and we wanted to give a good present to the chairman (Kaizer Motaung Snr), our forefathers and all the people who have always been part and parcel of this journey,” Zwane said in a post-match press conference.

Despite the defeat, Zwane believes that the team can still gain momentum in climbing up the table. He believes that the team created a lot of chances and that they can still come back stronger.

“It’s not the end of the world for us, we’ll regroup. We’ll go look at ourselves where we can fix and improve and we get going. As I said, I still believe, I mean this is our 15th game, we still have another 15 games to play for so, there’s a lot to play for and football is a funny game,” Zwane said.

He went on to say that the team must rectify their mistakes and continue to fight for their goals.

“We might be losing today and there’ll be times when we’re gaining momentum, winning games, game after game and we’ll get to that point, because it’s part of football,” he added. Kaizer Chiefs will now look to regroup and put in a strong performance in their next game.
