Head coach Rulani Mokwena recalled Rushine de Reuck to the defence and also handed a return to action to Peter Shalulile, who had been out since October.
Sundowns needed just 13 minutes to break the deadlock as Teboho Mokoena headed home a free-kick from Aubrey Modiba.

Chippa United had a chance to equalise when Etiosa Godspower Ighodaro tested Ronwen Williams with a low strike, but the goalkeeper was equal to the task.
The Chilli Boys were unable to create any real danger in the opposition box as the first half wore on and the Brazilians dominated possession.
In the 55th minute, Mokwena made three changes, introducing Shalulile, Gaston Sirino and Lesedi Kapinga, and it was the substitutes that made the difference.
Shalulile scored on his return, heading home Sifiso Ngobeni’s cross, while Chippa United managed to pull one back on 91 minutes when Thabiso Lebitso headed home Ronaldo Maarman’s cross.
The win sees Sundowns move 13 points clear of second-place SuperSport United.
