On Tuesday night, Mamelodi Sundowns secured their tenth consecutive win in the DStv Premiership with a 2-1 victory over Chippa United. Goals from Teboho Mokoena and the returning Peter Shalulile were enough to secure the win, despite Thabiso Lebitso’s late strike for the Chilli Boys.

Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena was satisfied with the result, but not the performance. He said, “Congratulations to Mamelodi Sundowns for winning against a team that was very aggressive and that really wanted to beat us. So congratulations to this magnificent group of players.”
When asked about the team’s second goal, Mokwena said, “It’s always a team effort, we always speak about the team, today it wasn’t good, no rhythm in the play you know, not good at all but we take the three points and we move on. Congratulations to Mamelodi Sundowns, congratulations to this group, congratulations to the team in it’s entirety, the football club, from the management to the supporters and long may it continue.”
Mamelodi Sundowns have now won their last ten games in the DStv Premiership, and are now seven points clear at the top of the table. With just four games left to play, the Brazilians look set to secure their ninth league title.
