On Monday, newly-appointed Sekhukhune United head coach Brandon Truter gave his full support to Arthur Zwane, coach of Kaizer Chiefs, the “biggest club in Africa”.
Truter, who was appointed at Sekhukhune during the recess, has made a strong impression in his first three games in charge, collecting seven points from a maximum of nine and taking the team from the bottom of the log up to 11th. Truter’s biggest scalp in the early stages of his reign at Sekhukhune was a 1-0 win over Chiefs on the Soweto giants’ birthday.
In a press conference, Truter expressed his frustration with the lack of patience from club owners in South Africa, referencing his own experiences at Swallows and AmaZulu. The former Usuthu coach then went on to give his support to Zwane, saying: “Arthur (Zwane) is at the biggest club in Africa and I support him 100 percent. We want local coaches to succeed at clubs like this.”
He also believes the Glamour Boys have the talent to close the gap behind serial winners Mamelodi Sundowns, citing the likes of George Matlou, Kgaogelo Sekgota and Sifiso Hlanti.
Truter concluded by saying: “If Chiefs is patient they will close the gap between Sundowns and the rest of us.”
Kaizer Chiefs 0 – 1 Sekhukhune United: Analysis
A very unfortunate result, not what we wanted or even the least we hoped for.
An overall poor performance from the boys; From an unbalanced application of tactics, complacency in defense to a lack of aggression off the ball! pic.twitter.com/hLzaYQIFF0
