South African Teen Impresses German Giants FC Bayern!

FC Bayern Munich have secured the services of a promising South African
teenager following his impressive performances at a recent tournament in
Germany.

The Bundesliga is no stranger to South African talent, with the likes of
Steven Pienaar, Delron Buckley, Rowen Fernandez, Siyabonga Nkosi and
Bradley Carnell having all featured in the German top flight. Tashreeq
Matthews was the last South African to feature in Germany, having turned
out for Borussia Dortmund’s youth teams and the first team.

The Bavarian giants took to their social media pages to announce that
Aphiwe Buthelezi had been named Player of the Tournament at the recently
held FC Bayern Youth Cup, and as a result, would be joining the FC Bayern
World Squad in 2024.

“At the FC Bayern Youth Cup 2023, which was held this weekend at the
Olympiastadion, the former home of FC Bayern, South African Buthelezi
Aphiwe presented himself successfully and was named the best player of the
entire tournament. As MVP of the Youth Cup, he has thus qualified for the
FC Bayern World Squad 2024. Congratulations!,” read the post.
