Sheppard’s Resilience: The Last Man Standing at Chiefs Explained

Kaizer Chiefs insiders have revealed that Dillon Sheppard is the sole
survivor of the technical team for the senior side, following the
departure of former head coach Molefi Ntseki and assistant Arthur Zwane.

Siya sources have indicated that Sheppard’s position is not related to
Ntseki’s, as his contract was signed separately when he joined the club
with Gavin Hunt in 2020.

“You know coach Dillon (Sheppard) has a different contract. That’s why
even when the head coaches change he doesn’t change his position. When he
joined the team in 2020 with Gavin Hunt his contract was not attached to
that of Gavin and that’s why when he left, Sheppard remained,” said a Siya
source.

A second source revealed that Sheppard recently signed a contract
extension which ends in June 2024.

“Maybe things will change next year in June when his contract expires. The
initial three-year contract was running out in June this year but when he
returned back from Europe earlier this year the club extended his contract
with one more year until June 2024,” the source told PSLSA.

The Siya crew contacted Chiefs for comment but the club didn’t respond
while this story was prepared.
