The draw for the first round of the Nedbank Cup took place on Thursday evening, with the big guns all avoiding each other.
The round of 32 is made up of 16 teams from the DStv Premiership, eight teams from the Motsepe Foundation Champions while the other eight spots are filled by the ABC Motsepe League and SAFA divisions.
Mamelodi Sundowns are defending the champions after they defeated Marumo Gallants in the final last season with a 2-1 victory at Royal Bafokeng Stadium. The Brazilians will begin their defence against Richards Bay FC, which is a repeat of last season’s Last 32 clash where the champions ran out 4-0 winners.
Elsewhere, Arthur Zwane’s Kaizer Chiefs make the trip to the Harry Gwala Stadium to lock horns with Maritzburg United. Orlando Pirates start their journey against Championship side All Stars FC, while Cape Town City do battle against Royal AM.
The Premier Soccer League will announce the dates and venues in due course.
The draw for the round of 32 is as follows: SuperSport United vs Dondol Stars FC, Golden Arrows vs Pretoria Callies, Marumo Gallants vs Magesi FC, Blackcross vs Venda Football Academy, Mamelodi Sundowns vs Richards Bay FC, Cape Town Spurs vs Baroka FC, TS Galaxy vs Amavarara FC, Sekhukhune United vs Liver Brothers, Stellenbosch FC vs Swallows FC, Mpheni Home Defenders vs Clarewood FC, Mkhambathi FC vs Casric Stars, Cape Town City vs Royal AM, Maritzburg United vs Kaizer Chiefs, All Stars FC vs Orlando Pirates, Polokwane City vs Chippa United and AmaZulu FC vs Tornado FC.
