Discontent Mashiane Contemplating Departure from Chiefs?

Kaizer Chiefs have been looking to strengthen at left back, but now the
Siya crew has been informed that one of their defenders in this position may
seek to leave the club in January. According to Siya sources, young left
back Happy Mashiane has requested either a loan move or a release from the
club.

Mashiane, an academy graduate, could be frustrated if he feels he won’t be
playing in the first team and would then need to move elsewhere to get game
time. “The thing that has made Happy (Mashiane) to request a loan move or to
be released in January is the lack of game time and also that the club is
looking at bringing in another left back from outside the club,” said the
Siya source.

The 25-year-old’s contract is set to expire in June 2024, and the Siya crew
previously reported that Amakhosi were interested in extending Mashiane’s
contract. His future should depend on whether a new permanent head coach or
interim coach Cavin Johnson might use Mashiane going forward.

A second source added that since the changing of coaches from Gavin Hunt to
Arthur Zwane and then Molefi Ntseki, his game time has become less
guaranteed. “With coaches Gavin (Hunt) and Arthur (Zwane) he had the chance
to play but this season he hasn’t played a single game and sometimes they
even use right backs at left back while he is there and that’s why he thinks
maybe they don’t need him and he wants to move on,” said the second source.
“He has already requested to management for that though they haven’t come
back to him yet,” the source added.

As previously reported by PSLSA, Kaizer Chiefs were linked to Tanzanian left
back Mohamed Hussein from Simba SC and Stellenbosch FC left back Fawaaz
Basadien. PSLSA contacted Chiefs for comment but no response was received
while preparing this story.
