Saturday, saw former Kaizer Chiefs star Abia Nale join the list of former
professional footballers who are getting into coaching post their playing
careers. In recent years, the likes of Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Morgan
Gould, Joseph Makhanya and Gerald Modabi have been handed roles at
different clubs in the PSL for their respective development teams.
The Siya crew has it on good authority that former Amakhosi midfielder
Abia Nale, 36, has become one of the latest ex-professional footballers to
get into coaching, following his retirement from the game in 2021. Nale is
helping out at his uncle Zacharia’s Nale Football Academy in Sedibeng as
one of the coaches.
“Yes, he is helping with coaching the academy boys full time. He is
preparing to attend a coaching course to empower himself,” confirmed the
uncle. “I had to push him because he played under great coaches and having
also come from the development structures at Orlando Pirates. The boys
really enjoy being around him,” concluded Nale.
Nale, who is affectionately known in football circles as ‘Soul Provider’,
played for clubs such as Golden Arrows, Ajax Cape Town (now known as Cape
Town Spurs), Mpumalanga Black Aces and Platinum Stars during his
professional career.
