Mamelodi Sundowns have secured their spot in the group stages of the CAF
Champions League, after a dominant 6-0 aggregate victory over Tanzanian
side Bumamuru. This will be the South African giants’ fifth consecutive
appearance in the group stages of the competition.
The DStv Premiership champions are the only South African team in the
group stages this season, after Orlando Pirates were knocked out by
Botswana Premier League outfit Jwaneng Galaxy, who are led by South
African-born coach Morena Ramoreboli. This is not the first time Galaxy
have made it to the group stages under Ramoreboli’s guidance, with the
club having achieved the feat in 2021/22.
