On Tuesday, Njabulo Blom’s agent Rob Moore opened up on the boardroom talks he had with Kaizer Chiefs regarding his client’s move abroad to American side St. Louis City. Blom’s future had been a subject of intense speculation after Soccer Laduma broke the story that his camp had reached an impasse with Chiefs over the renewal of his contract, which was set to expire at the end of the season.
Moore revealed the conversation he had with the Amakhosi management initially in July and said they were on the same page regarding finding Blom an overseas move. He said they had agreed to take into account two scenarios, one in which Blom would make some sacrifices in terms of salary if a move abroad was secured, and the other being that if a transfer was not possible, Blom’s salary would increase to an appropriate level.
However, Moore said the sticking point was over the renewal of Blom’s contract, where they did not agree on Blom’s future salary package. He said what he perceived to be market-related and what Chiefs were offering were two different things.
Moore is renowned for having secured Christian Pulisic a move to Borussia Dortmund at age 16 and then later to Chelsea, among his many international clients.
