On Saturday, Orlando Pirates will be looking to put an end to their three-game losing streak in the league when they face Ntsako Makhubela’s Golden Arrows. Thabang Monare, the Pirates midfielder, is close friends with Makhubela, but he insists that the friendship will be put aside when the two sides face off. Monare believes the Buccaneers played much better against Cape Town City and that the result was not a true reflection.
The Sea Robbers will be playing their first home game since the restart and Monare believes they have no excuse not to dominate Abafana Bes’thende. He said, “It’s a huge plus because we’re playing at home. Obviously we want get away from that, we have to dominate teams at home, there’s no excuse in that.”
Monare discussed the prospect of facing Makhubela and said, “He’s a very good player, I have so much respect for the boy. Very close with him, we always talk on a daily. But a job is a job. Work has to be done on the field. That’s another world, the field is another world where we’re going there with different emotions, different mindsets.”
The Orlando Pirates midfielder concluded by saying, “Wherever I am I have to be successful, the team that I represent I have to represent them well, whether I’m playing against my mom or my dad.”
