Orlando Pirates have failed to register a goal in their last few matches,
culminating in their crash out of the CAF Champions League preliminary
round. As a result, the club is reportedly looking to make adjustments to
their squad upfront, with the lack of goals understood to be a sore point
for management.
Indications are that the club’s top brass have been watching the
performances of Tshegofatso Mabasa, who is currently on loan at Moroka
Swallows for the rest of the season. The 27-year-old is currently topping
the Premiership’s goalscoring charts, with six goals.
Siya sources have revealed that talks regarding the future of Mabasa look
set to be held and it is believed that the player could make a return to
his parent club earlier than anticipated, should an agreement be reached.
An insider has revealed that the player is enjoying his football at the
Dube Birds, and has his eye on being selected for Bafana Bafana for the
AFCON in January. However, it is believed that Pirates are negotiating for
an early return, which would need to take place during the January
transfer window.
Should the two clubs agree on a return for the player, it will not be the
first time in the PSL. Keletso Makgalwa ended his loan deal prematurely
when TS Galaxy sent the player back to Mamelodi Sundowns, while Bongani
Sam failed to complete a season-long loan when Maritzburg parted ways with
the player after nine matches.
