Decoding Ntseki’s Ideal Starting XI for Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki has addressed the question of
whether the club has identified their best starting XI this season. With a
new-look team, Chiefs have played nine matches so far, four of which have
ended in defeat.

In these matches, fans have noticed changes in all areas of the pitch,
from the goalkeepers to the strikers. This prompted the question whether
Ntseki has established the players who form part of his preferred starting
XI.

Speaking to the media after his side were beaten 1-0 by Cape Town City,
Ntseki revealed that injuries to key personnel and the need to refresh the
team has led to inconsistencies within the starting line-up.

“In terms of the best XI, we know our best XI. The best XI that we have
in our team are players that are all registered because if ever you have
what happened yesterday, where you have George [Matlou] who got injured at
training before the game, what do you do? You take someone who’s ready,”
he said.

“When you look at it and say ‘that is not his first XI’ but when you look
at the players we have been using, it’s been our first XI. The midfielders
have been the three of them, [Edson] Castillo, [Yusuf] Maart and George
for the past matches we played.

“Up front we’ve been using [Pule] Mmodi, [Tebogo] Potsane and Ash [Du
Preez]. When that time comes to rotate, you have to do it because it will
keep the team fresh.”

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki has revealed that the club are
aware of their best starting XI, despite the frequent changes to the team
due to injuries and the need to refresh the squad. Ntseki highlighted the
midfield trio of Edson Castillo, Yusuf Maart and George Matlou, as well as
the attacking trio of Pule Mmodi, Tebogo Potsane and Ash Du Preez as
forming part of his preferred line-up.

He emphasised the importance of rotating the squad in order to keep the
team fresh and performing at their best.
