Mamelodi Sundowns extended their record of consecutive victories in the
DStv Premiership to 15 matches after a narrow win over Orlando Pirates on
Friday evening. Sundowns’ head coach Rulani Mokwena has revealed what he
thought made “a big difference” in the Pirates team compared to their
previous clashes.

Mokwena praised the presence of goalkeeper Sipho Chaine, who is
comfortable playing out from the back, saying that it gave Pirates “very
good build-up possibilities” and “made a big difference” in the game. He
also praised his own goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, who kept a clean-sheet,
and said that they had to be “respectful” to the Buccaneers for them to
extend their winning run.
“So if you look at the two goalkeepers, I thought they were magnificent
and it augurs well for South African football to be honest with you but we
dug deep, we put in a shift and we were very respectful and extremely
humble,” Mokwena said.
The former Pirates coach also praised his players for their “magnificent
shift” and “tactically being so good”, saying that they changed formations
a lot during the game.
