Chiefs Legend Makes a Special Plea

Kaizer Chiefs legend Abel Shongwe is hoping the club can turn the corner
and end their long trophy drought. The Amakhosi have not won silverware
since their 2014/15 league title and have gone seven years without a
trophy.

The Glamour Boys put in a determined performance over the weekend, beating
Maritzburg United 2-0 in an away fixture in the Nedbank Cup Last 32.

Speaking after the match, Shongwe expressed his hope that the current
generation of players can bring success to the club. He also urged the
management to bring in quality players to help coach Arthur Zwane.

“Kaizer Chiefs is not bad at the moment and I can see that Arthur is
trying to get the best out of the club,” the former Chiefs attacker said.
“I’m happy what the chairman is doing to help the guy. I’m happy what the
management is doing to help the coach and Kaizer Chiefs is not a small
team.”

“We brought cups to Kaizer Chiefs and that’s what the club has always been
known for. We are looking at the current generation of players with the
hope that they will bring cups to the club.”

Shongwe also called on supporters to get behind the coach and give him the
support he needs. “Let them (management) help Arthur by bringing good
players to the club so that Chiefs could be an even better team. I am
appealing to the supporters to get fully behind the coach,” he said.
