Former Orlando Pirates striker Phumudzo Manenzhe has expressed his
delight at Thembinkosi Lorch’s return to action, saying that the Bafana
Bafana international’s return feels like a new signing for the Buccaneers.
Lorch was out of action for over five months due to a knee injury, but
made an immediate impact upon his return two weeks ago, creating a goal
and scoring one of his own in a 2-0 victory against Motsepe Foundation
Championship side All Stars.
Manenzhe spoke ahead of the upcoming Soweto Derby between Pirates and
Kaizer Chiefs, saying that Lorch’s return has been a major boost for the
team. “Lorch feels like a new signing. He is back and he is looking fresh
and good. You saw in his first game after five months he created a goal
and also scored. That’s just great,” he said. Manenzhe also praised
Monnapule Saleng, who has scored four goals in his last six matches for
the Buccaneers. “Saleng is currently among top five PSL players. He has
scored nine goals and created four. That’s very good and come Saturday he
will be an important part of the team against Chiefs in the derby,”
Manenzhe concluded.
