Ntuli’s Spectacular Goal Salvages AmaZulu in KZN Derby Thriller

On Saturday, 28 October, AmaZulu and Royal AM played out an entertaining
1-1 draw in the DStv Premiership at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

The home side, AmaZulu, came into the game on the back of a winless run
of five matches, while Royal AM had drawn their last two games.

AmaZulu’s midfield comprised of former Kaizer Chiefs duo George Maluleka
and Hendrick Ekstein, while John Maduka recalled Ruzaigh Gamildien and
Menzi Masuku for the visitors.

The first half saw few clear-cut chances, with neither side able to break
the deadlock before the break. However, Gamildien broke the deadlock seven
minutes into the second half when he took one touch inside the box and
fired the ball into the bottom corner for his fourth league goal of the
season.

AmaZulu responded with a double change, introducing Sphesihle Maduna and
Bonginkosi Ntuli for the final 30 minutes. The home side were nearly
rewarded with an equaliser three minutes later when Thembela Sikhakhane’s
strike hit the top of the crossbar.

With time running out, AmaZulu managed to get back on level terms with
four minutes to go as Ntuli found the back of the net with a stunning
volley from the edge of the box.

Usuthu then pushed for a winner in the closing stages, but Royal AM held
on for the point.
