On Wednesday, Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena sent a
heart-warming message to TS Galaxy’s Bernard Parker after his horrific leg
break that occurred during the Carling Knockout match against Sundowns.
The match, which was played at the Mbombela Stadium, ended in a 5-4
penalty shootout victory for Galaxy after the match finished 2-2 after
extra-time.
Parker sustained the injury in a challenge from Sundowns midfielder
Bongani Zungu, who was subsequently shown a red card.
Speaking to journalists after the match, Mokwena expressed his hope that
the injury was not as serious as it appeared and wished Parker a speedy
recovery, while also adding that there was no malicious intent from Zungu.
“I can only wish Bernard Parker a speedy recovery. I hope it’s not as
serious as it looks,” said Mokwena. “Knowing Bongani Zungu, I know it was
not malicious, and that there was no malicious intent behind it. The only
thing that I can say is that I wish Bernard Parker a speedy recovery,” the
tactician concluded.
