Sundowns Chairman’s Intriguing Move in Coaching Staff Unveiled

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has opened up on the missed
opportunities against Casric Stars in their 2-1 victory in the Nedbank Cup
last weekend. Goals from Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana and Ashley Du Preez
ensured the Glamour Boys progressed to the quarter-finals of the
competition for the first time since 2019.

However, Zwane was asked about Mduduzi Shabalala’s missed chances, and the
Amakhosi legend believes the team needs to improve their decision-making
in the final third in order to maximize their chances of scoring.

“I think not only ‘Mdu’, when you look at the decision-making in the
final third entry, there was a time we had about four v two and we ended
up allowing them to recover and close us down,” Zwane said in a press
conference. “And we looked like scoring in that moment, so I think its one
of those things that we need to improve our decision-making, from the
middle, not only in the final third.”

The former Bafana Bafana midfielder went on to explain that they need to
use the half spaces better, and get the ball behind the opposition
defence. He believes that once they can get their decision-making right,
they’ll be able to score a lot of goals.

“In terms of how do we use the half spaces, how do we get the ball behind
the opposition defence and there was a time we did it right and whenever
we did it right we looked dangerous and we had those moments,” Zwane said.
“Mdu, the keeper made a save, there was another one from Du Preez, so we
had I think two of those and one from Solly (Dillan Solomons), I think
their defenders defended very well in terms of recovering but I still say
we need to improve our decision-making in the final third. Once we can get
that right I think we’ll score a lot of goals because we do create
goalscoring opportunities.”

Kaizer Chiefs will have a week to prepare before visiting Maritzburg
United on Saturday evening in the DStv Premiership.
