Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to restore some pride when they host Mamelodi Sundowns in the DStv Premiership on Saturday night. Chiefs are under pressure to respond after back-to-back defeats, the last of which was a humiliating 4-0 loss to AmaZulu just over a week ago.
Arthur Zwane’s charges sit fifth on the table with 19 points, trailing Sundowns who are 14 points clear at the top of the table. Chiefs new signing Christian Saile Basomboli will not be available, as he will only officially start training next week.
Sundowns extended their winning streak to 11 matches after edging SuperSport United 1-0 in the Tshwane derby on Monday and equalled their own record they set in 2006/07 under former coach Gordon Igesund. The Brazilians will set a new league record of consecutive victories if they beat Chiefs.
Sundowns have already put Chiefs to the sword this season after registering a 4-0 thrashing at Loftus Verselfd in August.
